When it comes to any beauty routine, lip care is essential. To create the perfect pout, it’s important to make sure that you care for your lips first. For some of us, lips can be prone to dryness and they can appear cracked and chapped — especially during the winter months or in chillier climates — so it’s important to moisturize with lip balm.
Even though there are plenty of lip balm products sold by beauty brands and retailers, it is possible to make your own.
Here are the reasons why you should make your own lip balm and how to make lip balm at home with natural ingredients.
Why Make DIY Lip Balm?
Making your own lip balm comes with its own benefits, and it’s super easy to do and it’s inexpensive! You can make many batches of lip balms from a mixture of a few natural ingredients and they’re not time-consuming to create, so making your own DIY lip balm won’t take up much of your time.
Making your own lip balm is so much better because a DIY lip balm is non-toxic. Unless you purchase a lip balm from an organic beauty brand, many lip balms sold by beauty brands and retailers contain a number of toxic ingredients and chemicals. DIY lip balms contain natural and organic ingredients that soothe, nourish and moisturize your lips, and are better for your skin and health.
By creating your own DIY lip balm, you can tailor it to your preferences. You can add your favorite ingredients or avoid adding ingredients that you don’t like. For example, you might choose to add shea butter and raw coconut oil to your DIY lip balm, and you might decide to avoid adding mint oil if you really despise the scent. The choice is yours!
Best of all, handmade lip balms are great as gifts – and they won’t cost an arm and a leg! By making and giving away natural and organic lip balms, you can be sure to give your loved ones a present that is free from toxins and will moisturize their lips.
