Easy and Quick At-Home Solutions

May 11, 2018

When it comes to skincare, we like to splash out on the most premium oils and eye creams to keep our skin looking flawless. However, it doesn’t always have to cost a fortune and you can DIY some of your routine to keep costs down. A lot of women admit that they don’t enjoy their night time routine, especially removing makeup. However, making your own DIY makeup remover is a fun and budget-friendly way to spruce up your skincare regimen.

Best Ingredient for a DIY Makeup Remover

A lot of skincare products contain alcohol which can dry your skin out. Women who have a sensitive skin type should choose their products wisely and mostly use natural, organic or even homemade products on their skin. If you make your own makeup remover you won’t need a lot of ingredients and most of them are easy to find at your home.

Check out the following five ingredients options and make your very own makeup remover with ease!

Oil

If you are a fan of oil removing methods or if you have dry skin, then this option may suit you the best. You can choose among several healthy and mild oils such as sunflower, coconut or avocado, but also take it up a notch and go with castor and olive.

In case you have oily skin your best option may be the mixture of castor and olive oil. You will need 1/3 of castor and 2/3 of olive. If you have combination skin you can use 1/4 of hazelnut oil and 3/4 of sunflower oil. If you have dry skin you can go in with olive oil.

These oils are very powerful, therefore you won’t need a lot. Spread it out with your fingers and leave it on for two minutes. After that period passes use a warm cloth and wipe off the residue. Your skin will smell great, look and feel silky soft, and most importantly – be makeup free!

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is found in almost every product you can imagine. You can use this gel and remove makeup, but only after creating the right paste. You will need a small container, honey, aloe vera gel, 2 tablespoons of an oil of your choice, and a blender.

Take a small container and add the same amount of aloe vera and raw honey. Then, add two tablespoons of oil to create a nice smooth paste. Take a pea size amount on your finger and spread it all over your face. Rinse out the residue with warm water and enjoy a softer complexion. Store your paste in the fridge for future use.

Honey

You probably have a jar of honey laying around your house, but little did you know that antibacterial honey can fight acne as well as dead skin. If you do suffer with congested and problematic skin, honey is a great option for your DIY makeup remover.

All you need to do is rub a small bean size amount over your face and give yourself a quick massage. Leave it on for 5 minutes and rinse out with a warm cloth. This option is perfect if you are really not in the mood to remove your makeup and if you want to have a super fast, yet efficient, outcome.

Rose Water

This cleansing gel smells lovely and it will give you a refreshing feeling after you are done with it. It is also very easy to prepare and can be used on any skin type. All you need is a water bottle, 1/4 cup aloe vera gel, two tablespoons of glycerin, 1 teaspoon of Castile soap, and 8 drops of rose scent.

All you need to do is mix these ingredients in the water bottle. Shake your mixture and then take a pea size amount into clean hands and massage it onto your face. Rinse with warm water until all of your makeup comes off.

Makeup Wipes

Last but not least, this DIY makeup remover is very easy and popular. The thing that you should know is that you should never use baby wipes or any wipes that are drenched in alcohol. If you really love wipes it would be the best for you to DIY this part and avoid drying out your skin.

Use a jar with a tight fitting lid, cotton balls, pure aloe vera, pure witch hazel extract, liquid castille soap, a cleansing oil, 10 drops of an essential oil of your choice. Mix all of the above in your jar (besides the cotton) and shake it or blend it in with a blender. Make sure your paste is ready and clump-free after you are done mixing it. Then, shake the paste onto your cotton rounds. This will work just as any micellar water would on your face, and even better than the store bought wipes!
